I am so saddened by how run down this once great hotel has become :( We have stayed here MANY times, as locals, and have recommended throughout the years. There were two ladies working the VIP check-in.
They also did not have anyone to help with the kiosk problems. The did have kiosks to help with check in but didn't work very well. It was comfortable in here, as the front desk line was hours of wait. I'd say there was approximately five guests ahead of us. We checked in on Friday utilizing the VIP registration area. She got us the best rate, beating out my discounts, and was knowledgeable about what was offered (which learning that the Carnival Buffet never opened back up was so disappointing.) I did not get the girl's name, but she was the ONLY highlight of the Rio Hotel. The only good experience was making the reservations by phone. We figured it would be convenient, and we haven't seen the old girl for a few years pre Covid. My family and I decided to stay at the Rio Hotel because we were participating in a tournament at the Convention Center.
